It’s been said that “the road out of poverty runs by the schoolhouse,” and we know that access to quality education is essential to success in life. Having well-educated citizens benefits all of us: high-school graduates earn more and can contribute more to the local economy. They’re also more engaged in the community, helping to make it a better place for everyone.
 
In Lee County, United Way sponsors Super Summer Reading, a program that provides books to interested readers from low-income families. These books are given to the children to keep for their very own, helping to reinforce a love of reading that will benefit the children not just as they go through school, but for their entire lives.
