Bucky is a native of Sanford and moved back in 2015 after spending almost 30 years in Washington, DC. He works seasonally for Duke University, his alma mater, reviewing applications for undergraduate admission. He serves as co-chair of the West Community Commission on Ministry for the Presbytery of Coastal Carolina and is a participant in the Presbytery's Commissioned Ruling Elder Program. Bucky joined the United Way board in 2020 and currently serves as its treasurer. He lives with Billy Gormley, his husband of 28 years.
