Diversity and Non-discrimination Policy

Diversity and inclusion are at the heart of what it means to LIVE UNITED. To effectively and authentically address our community's most pressing needs requires an outward and intentional commitment to inclusion across all dimensions. United Way of Lee County seeks to include, engage, and serve everyone in our community in an equitable environment that is free from discrimination.

United Way of Lee County will not discriminate on the basis of any protected characteristic, including race; ethnicity; color; national origin; language; ancestry; religion; sex; familial status; age; gender identity or expression; LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, etc.) status; marital status; domestic or sexual violence victim status; veteran status, sensory, mental, or physical disability; or any federally protected class. This policy applies to employment/staffing, volunteer participation, and to the delivery of programs provided to the community by United Way of Lee County.

Additionally, United Way of Lee County will not invest in any agency that discriminates on the basis of any of the above-referenced characteristics in its program services/delivery. This policy does not prohibit any agency from operating programs specifically designed to meet the special needs of target populations with certain characteristics, e.g., age, gender, health, disability, etc.
