Sandra Cox Boyd

Sandra Cox Boyd is a native of Harnett County. She attended North Carolina Central University receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health Education in 1984 and her Master of Arts degree in Agency Counseling in 2000.

She began her career in 1984 with the Lee County Health Department. She continued her career working in State and local government in Public Health. Her professional experience includes work in HIV/STD, Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, Mental Health, and Sickle Cell Education. Her most fulfilling role was as a Sickle Cell Educator Counselor, later advancing to Supervisor of the NC Sickle Cell Syndrome Program. Ms. Boyd retired from this position in July 2020.

Sandra’s community involvement includes serving as a board member of the United Way of Lee/Harnett County, chairperson of the Johnsonville Democratic Precinct, and vice president of the Black Heritage Community Cemetery Revitalization Organization. She is an active member of Fair Promise A.M.E. Zion Church in Sanford. Sandra is married to David Boyd, and they are the proud parents of three adult children David Boyd, Jr., Grant Holmes, and Gabrielle Holmes. She enjoys volunteering and serving in her community, spending time with family and working in the yard.
